Our Club Outing on Sunday 19th July will be at Old Noarlunga, meeting at Market Square Green, 2.30 pm. This will be followed by an evening meal at the local pub. Things to photograph: historic buildings (click on the link to go to the Old Noarlunga website for information), the river and reflections, the park and surrounding areas.

Trade Night at Atkins Technicolour

Our meeting on Tuesday 21st July won't be at the clubrooms, but will be a Trade Night at Atkins Technicolour, 89 Fullarton Road, Kent Town. Start time is at 7 pm. The club has visited Atkins before, and it's been interesting seeing how the lab has changed over the years, from processing film and slides, to printing digital images.

Photo Quiz, Tuesday May 19

Next week’s meeting is going to be a little different.  Peter Phillips has taken photographs at various locations around the city and parklands, and these will be shown on Tuesday night.  Cryptic clues will be given, and members are to try to identify the locations.  Please bring supper, and a pen and notepaper.  It should be a fun evening.

How to Keep a Log of Your Work in Photoshop

The Digital Photography School website has a useful tip on keeping track of your work in photoshop without having to write it down in a notebook or in a separate document on the computer. Let photoshop do it for you, and all you have to do is to set it up under preferences. Read the full article.

Great for when you create your own special effects, or when you come up with a general workflow that you use for similar images.

Great Photographic Challenge

This is an annual event where club members gather at a specified place and are given a list of 8 subjects to photograph on the day. What's the catch? Members can't use their own equipment, but are given the use of a cheap fixed lens compact camera which is loaded with a roll of 24 exposure film. This is a challenge to see what you can come up with using the most basic of equipment. At the end of the day, all cameras and films are returned to Reg, who will arrange to get the films processed and returned to members at the next meeting. The idea is to choose the best shot of each subject to be entered into a special competition. The 6 x 4 prints are entered as is, with no re-printing or manipulating of the images allowed.

This year's Great Photographic Challenge is to be held at North Adelaide, meeting at the Piccadilly Theatre at 1.30 pm. Cost is $11 per member, to cover film and processing.

On Tuesday April 21 the Great Photographic Challenge will be judged, each photograph will be given a score out of 10, and the person who scores the most points in total will be awarded the Great Photographic Challenge 2009 trophy.
