Interclub Competition Tuesday May 1

The club will not meet at our club rooms this week as we will be going to Mullins Gallery for the Interclub Competition with Eastern Suburbs Camera Club. Mullins Gallery is located at 260 Portrush Road, Beulah Park. Meet there at 7.30 pm for an 8.00 pm start.

It's their turn to host the competition, which consists of 15 large colour prints, 15 monochrome prints and 25 slides from each club. At the start of each year EPC asks for slides from members to be duplicated for the club set, and this duplicated set is used for the interclub competitions.

Website updated

The EPC website has been updated on the Program page with the dates for May. I've also tweaked the CSS to place the vertical navigation bar so that Firefox displays it correctly. If you have trouble viewing any of the pages, please let me know.

April 24 Presentation/Workshop

On Tuesday April 24 Mike Connell of Orange Lane Studios will be running a workshop on studio lighting at the clubrooms. This is an exciting opportunity to see how one of the masters of commercial photography works. Members may bring along their own cameras to photograph the set ups as well.

2007 Great Photographic Challenge

The Great Photographic Challenge will be held this Sunday, April 22. This is where members are loaned a basic plastic camera, and given a list of subjects to photograph, and a time limit to photograph them in. Everyone has the same camera, so this means that the only difference between photos is according to how the photographer interprets the subject.

Meet at the corner of Edward Street and The Parade at 1.30 pm to collect your camera loaded with film. The cost is $10 to cover film and processing.

April Program Updates

Tuesday April 10: Open Competition
Tuesday April 17: Practical - Creating and photographing crystals under polarised light. This is instead of the portraiture session previously listed in the program
Sunday April 22: Great Photographic Challenge
Tuesday April 24: Member presentation

There will be no outing on Sunday April 15, the Great Photographic Challenge on April 22 will be the outing for the month. The Great Photographic Challenge is where we go to a specific location - this year it will be Norwood Parade - and be given a list of topics to photograph using a very basic compact camera, supplied by the club. Cost is $10 per photographer to cover film and processing. The cameras are given to Reg at the end of the day to organise the processing of the film, and then prints are given back to the photographers on the following Tuesday. There will be the judging of the prints in May, and the photographer with the most points will be the winner.
