This is an annual event where club members gather at a specified place and are given a list of 8 subjects to photograph on the day. What's the catch? Members can't use their own equipment, but are given the use of a cheap fixed lens compact camera which is loaded with a roll of 24 exposure film. This is a challenge to see what you can come up with using the most basic of equipment. At the end of the day, all cameras and films are returned to Reg, who will arrange to get the films processed and returned to members at the next meeting. The idea is to choose the best shot of each subject to be entered into a special competition.
This year the event is to be held at Strathalbyn on Sunday April 30. Cost is $10 per member, to cover the cost of film and processing.
On Tuesday May 30 the Great Photographic Challenge will be judged, each photograph will be given a score out of 10, and the person who scores the most points in total will be awarded the Great Photographic Challenge 2006 trophy.
